Day 100!

#100 - I’ve made it to the end of my 100 days of bob’s farm 100 day project ... I’m not going to lie, some days I really didn’t feel like doing an illustration, but I’m glad I stuck with it. 2019 has been a big and sometimes tough year for me so far, dealing with the fallout of losing Mum and finding new work, I’ve spent a whole lot of time at the farm and I’m honoured to now be one of the custodians of this beautiful place. So much so, I’ve made the big decision to move here permanently. So welcome to my new home everyone. I hope you’ve enjoyed the journey.

Monday 8 July 2019

Day 99

#99 - only one day to go of my 100 day project (#whoopwhoop) today it’s two white feathers one each for my Dad and Mum. They bought the farm in the 1970s and since then it has grown potatoes, wheat, barley, linseed and oil seed rape. The farm house was renovated by my Dad and later my Mum ran it as a bed and breakfast. I’m very proud of them and I love our farm.

Sunday 7 July 2019

Day 98

#98 of 100 day project  ... yay only 2 to go ! I love the structure of this hedgerow plant that I can’t remember the name of! What is it again?

Saturday 6 July 2019

Day 97

Day #97 it’s the final countdown of my #100dayproject ... hardly spotted the hare on the farm this year, occasionally I’ll see his ears above the grass and then he’s up and running off. (Also spotted him on my nature night cam) - just hope they come back in better numbers next year and it’s nothing to do with illegal hare coursing. Hares are very special me.

Day 96

#96 - nearly reached the final countdown! 100 day project nearly over and it’s forget-me-not flowers I hope you forget-me-not after this!

Friday 5 July 2019

Day 95

#95 and meadow brown butterfly and the other day it looked like a whole tree was moving with hundreds of these! Just wouldn’t capture well on my phone. ONLY 5 TO GO YAY!

Wednesday 3 July 2019

Day 94

#94 - #moth and although I admire their beauty I hate them flapping near me leaving their fairy dust - just had a rude awakening by a little owl coming down the chimney and me having to chase it round the house. Mission accomplished owl out safe and sound.

Day 93

#93 #buzzard and only a week Until I’m done ! Yay

Monday 1 July 2019

Day 92

#92 - I’m not sure what this is but it grows quickly up the side of the farm house... do you know ? It’s a weed but it’s pretty!

Day 91

#91 dog rose or wild rose and I love these! They also look great in the autumn with their bright red rosehips.

Sunday 30 June 2019

Day 90

#90 of my #100dayproject ... only 10 to go Yay!!! I thought we needed a partner for the other partridge as we always see the two running about!

Friday 28 June 2019

Day 89

#89 - you might have seen a couple of weeks ago on my story I spotted a hummingbird moth - had to google it as hadn’t a clue what I had just seen !! So here he is for my 100 day project.

Thursday 27 June 2019

Day 88

#88 and I love these little fungi - mushroom parasols - they’re so delicate and you can see light through the gills before they start to curl up.

Day 87

#87 #tigermoth ... only seen one once and the flash of orange is beautiful.

Day 86

Day 86 and all the bees love a foxglove.

Day 85

#85 of my 100 day project and it’s a little weasel ... we mainly see stoats but occasionally you spot the smaller weasel, usually darting from one hedge to another.

Day 84

#84 ... my sister found a little toad at the farm recently. We aren’t sure where he came from!

Day 83

#83 - dock and the saver of nettle stings... anyone else remember using dock leaves?

Day 82

#82 -acorn. We have quite a few oak trees on the farm. The squirrels love them! We have a seedling growing by the front door in a plant pot after a squirrel decided to bury one in there!

Day 81

#81 and it’s a  wasp beetle my #100dayproject ...
I always love a stripe!

Wednesday 19 June 2019

Day 80

#80 of my 100 day project and the humble nettle ... annoying but the mini beasts love them.

Day 79

#79 and I’ve definitely seen a cub under the other cherry tree but a bit bigger than this one. Just waiting for this tree to ripen and expecting lots of nature visitors hopefully.

Monday 17 June 2019

Day 78

#78 of my 100 day project and it’s the swallows .. a bit late this year, but usually they turn up as summer is arriving and you know summer is over, when they all line up on the telephone wire, before heading off.

Sunday 16 June 2019

Day 77

Day #77 of my 100 day project ... not sure what the real name is, but we call this plant sticky willies as they lots of barbs on and stick to your clothes (they also have lots of little balls .. need I say more). Hours of fun when we were small!

Saturday 15 June 2019

Day 76

Good morning it’s now day #76 of my 100 day project ... wagtail or  willy wagtail . I love watching their tails bob up and down.

Day 75

#75 three quarters way through.....phew! Today it’s a vole - we occasionally see one scuttle across the drive into the hedge from the field ...

Thursday 13 June 2019

Day 74

Day #74 of my  100 day project and the wet weather has bought out the snails... Alfie loves  searching for snails..... I’d rather they didn’t eat my plants.

Day 73

#73 and some more foliage for my 100 day project and it’s wild grass today.

Wednesday 12 June 2019

Day 72

The barley is now in ear ... seeing that it’s a farm I ought to add a bit of crop!

Monday 10 June 2019

Day 71

Green shield bug that landed on me the other day... such a bright green!

Day 70

#70 of my 100 day project... the thistle and we plenty of these around the fields ... I think they’re good for birds and wee beasties?

Saturday 8 June 2019

Day 69

#69 of my 100 day project and it’s a little squirrel - I wouldn’t say it’s a baby but the one I see is probably only two thirds the size of Sid so probably just still very young(and also quite a bit darker).

Friday 7 June 2019

Day 68

#68 box hedge caterpillar which turned up at the farm this week ... got a couple of hedges here that they decimated and hopefully saved the two big ones! Hmmmmmmmm

Day 67

Day #67 of my 100 day project and the elderflower is in full bloom and makes great cordial.

Thursday 6 June 2019

Day 66

#66 and back to the elements not the scene ... you probably won’t see that until the end now. Here’s a bit of ivy to climb up the tree ... it’s good at Christmas for decorating!

Wednesday 5 June 2019

Day 65

#65 of my 100 day project and I’ve added a tree stump (and a picture of the real thing) - when we lose a tree here, we usually make a feature of the stump rather than uproot it - this one has daffodils in a circle round it and looks great in spring and the mini beasts love it too.

Tuesday 4 June 2019

Day 64

#64 and thought I’d add the cherry tree seeing it’s so popular with the wildlife here... had to make it leafless so it’ll show any inhabitants later! (follow me on Instagram and see the night cam shots of the deer, muntjac, foxes, badger and others enjoying the cherries @katybobsyouraunty

Monday 3 June 2019

Day 63

Day 63 and a bit more habitat for my 100 day project - not very interesting images but the critters need somewhere to live !

Sunday 2 June 2019

Day 62

#62 and I’ll still be setting the scenery for the next few days for my 100 day project (where I’m drawing nature on our farm for 100 days.) Today is a mossy log and a good habitat for the mini beasts.

Saturday 1 June 2019

Day 61

#61 and decided to widen the scene so I can fit more in for my 100 day project - so today I’ve added some grass and a field of wheat.

Friday 31 May 2019

Day 60

#60 and I think it’s time to start setting the scene.... so I’ve combined the 2 tree scapes and today it’s blue skies and clouds for my 100 day project.

Wednesday 29 May 2019

Day 59

Good morning and it’s day #59 of my 100 day project - a little red soldier beetle - well that’s at least what I thought I saw, before it disappeared in the buttercups.... I think I need to think about setting the scene for the final piece soon!

Day 58

#58 of my 100 day project and I love a fern! We have a little wooded area at the bottom of the field where they grow.

Monday 27 May 2019

Day 57

#57 of my 100 day project and a female blackbird and Ernie’s lady love ... so much wildlife on the farm it’s like springwatch at the moment.

Day 56

Day 56  - buttercup for my  100 day project - hold them under your chin and if it reflects yellow you like butter! (Or so my childhood went).

Sunday 26 May 2019

Day 55

My 100 day project -and some more background scenery for my final pic (starting to panic a bit about that one!! eeeek!) check it out on Instagram #100daysofbobsfarm pics of nature from around our farm.

Saturday 25 May 2019

Day 54

Today it’s a muntjac or barking deer - I’ve only ever seen them alone, they’re a lot smaller than the other deer and I hear it more often than I see it on the farm, though on was spotted sunbathing in the oilseed rape field yesterday.

Friday 24 May 2019

Wednesday 22 May 2019

Day 52

Day 52 - cabbage white butterfly - these love the oilseed rape and also the love to lay eggs on the nasturtiums in the front garden! They have very hungry caterpillars!
